Proud
Legacy and Limitless Future
Catholic schools in Hays have enjoyed a rich
tradition for over 100 years since the Capuchin
Fathers and Sisters of St. Agnes came to the
high
plains to serve the region and educate children
in the Catholic tradition. The Catholic schools
taught math, reading, science fundamentals and
spiritual faith formation for thousands of
students. Providing for expansion and
enhancement of services as demand increases will
require additional
resources. Building on our rich legacy will
require additional commitments from supporters
of Catholic education in order to capitalize on
opportunities and realize our full potential as
a faith community.
Today the Catholic schools of Holy Family
Elementary and Thomas More Prep-Marian continue
to serve Hays youth. The legacy of the educators
and parents that believed a child educated with
faith formation continues today. Operational
funding for the Catholic Schools of the
Heartland Parishes comes from several sources:
parish tithes, endowment proceeds, student fees,
and private dollars. The Saint Thomas More
Society will supplement these sources of funds
to allow for necessary program
enhancement and expansion. The Saint Thomas More
Society has been created to ensure continued
growth and success of the Catholic Schools of
the Heartland
Parishes. Members of the society believe in
furthering the success of Catholic education and
are committed to financial security for the
schools well into the future.

The giving levels established mirror the career
of Saint Thomas More, beginning with his service
as one of two London undersheriffs in 1510 and
culminating with his appointment as Lord
Chancellor in 1529. His vision, ambition, and
devotion to God and to his family continue to
serve as an inspiration for us today. These are
the values we strive to instill in our young
students who are the leaders of tomorrow.
